Marblehead boys lacrosse begins new season at Beverly Friday Wicked Local Marblehead boys’ lacrosse coach John Wilkens’ team enjoyed a sensational 2019 season. They were 16-4 overall, and 10-0 in the Northeastern Conference, before losing a close encounter to Billerica, 15-13 in a North semifinal game. The Magicians were looking forward to another fine season in 2020 until COVID-19 shut everything down. But for those returning players from the 2019 squad on this year’s team, they are on a mission to resume their extraordinary winning ways. Coach Wilkens’ team is schedule to take on host Beverly Friday (May 7) to begin a brand new season. They have been hard at work since last week in order to get ready to defend the NEC title.

Luxemburg-Casco School Board drops COVID-19 mask requirement but will revisit the issue Monday Christopher Clough, Green Bay Press-Gazette LUXEMBURG - The Luxemburg-Casco School Board will meet Monday to revisit its decision from Wednesday night to end the health precautions implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including a requirement to wear face masks or coverings in school buildings. In a special meeting May 5 where consideration of revising COVID related restrictions was one of only two items in the agenda, the board voted 4-3 in favor of lifting mask requirements and quarantine rules immediately. The school has a busy sports schedule this month, and several schools in the North Eastern Conference whose teams are scheduled to face the Spartans before the end of the season have told the school their teams won t come to the school or host its students for games if the COVID-19-related restrictions are lifted, District Superintendent Glenn Schlender
