We were just notified that a good friend and classmate passed away. For many years, he was a Washington-based front man for numerous presidential candidates, and a well-respected student of politics. As quoted in a Baltimore Sunpapers article, he often said: “How do you get things accomplished? You do it by working well with people, and having a knack for diplomacy and public relations.” This helps define the Carolyn Jones we have known for the past 12 years. Carolyn will work hard to develop and implement a comprehensive parking plan for all areas of our increasingly busy town. She will work to mediate the ongoing dispute between the city and the Lewes Board of Public Works, which is costing legal fees on both sides, and could lead the city to deny water and sewer to a home on a Sussex County lot contiguous to city lots, because the owner will not agree to city annexation.

I am writing in support of Robert Kennedy’s candidacy for the Lewes Board of Public Works. I plan to vote for Robert Kennedy in the May election for the Lewes Board of Public Works, and encourage my friends and neighbors in Lewes to do the same.
Robert is a voice of reason, experience and integrity on the BPW, and has earned the privilege of serving another term. His many years of public service in the state of Delaware and particularly with the Delaware Public Service Commission and the City of Lewes give him the background to address the issues facing the Lewes Board of Public Works.

I recommend Earl Webb for the Lewes Board of Public Works. I have known Earl since high school. He was committed, thorough and persistent then and he is even more so now. Earl is a hard worker who will continue working until the best possible solution for the customer is found. He cares about people and outcomes - he built a long and successful corporate career with that as his guiding principle.
My family and I owned Dover Rent-All for more than four decades. A few years ago I was approached by a national firm with interest in acquiring my business. My first call was to Earl for advice and counsel. His comments and questions were relevant and thoughtful, and I credit his advice with my successful transaction.

Earl Webb was appointed to the BPW board seven months ago when Jack Lesher, the former treasurer of the Lewes BPW, retired after nine years of distinguished service.
The BPW must plan for all types of emergencies. The BPW financial management and cash reserve targets must be based upon risk assessment factors and capital needs. As a coastal city, the City of Lewes has emergency factors to consider that include hurricanes, persistent nor’easters, tornadoes and earthquakes as well as coastal flooding.
Earl’s extensive background in corporate financial management and intellectual curiosity to explore ways the job can be done better are what the BPW needs. As soon as he was appointed, he jumped right into the job by doing his homework and thoroughly analyzing the BPW financials.

I am writing in support of the candidacy of Tom Panetta, who is seeking re-election to the Lewes Board of Public Works. Elected to his first term three years ago, Tom has since made several significant contributions to the board and the operation of the BPW.
His background could not be better for this position. He worked professionally in the power industry for over 20 years with a degree in nuclear engineering. He has been a resident of Lewes for over 10 years. Together with his partner he restored a wonderful Victorian home to its former grandeur, and in doing so did much of the design and construction work himself. He has also demonstrated his commitment to Lewes by serving on several City of Lewes committees, including the planning commission and a subcommittee to study sea level rise, of which he is chair.
