December 22, 2020 Cape Gazette posts holiday deadlines Both retail and classified advertising deadlines will be moved up for the next two weeks due to the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. The deadline for the Tuesday, Dec. 29 issue will be noon, Wednesday, Dec. 23. The deadline for the Friday, Jan. 1 issue will be noon, Monday, Dec. 28. The deadline for the Tuesday, Jan. 5 edition will be noon, Wednesday, Dec. 30. Cape Gazette offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, Dec. 24-25, and Dec. 31-Jan. 1. Acres Christmas, New Year’s schedule set In observance of Christmas and New Year’s, Henlopen Acres Town Hall, 104 Tidewaters, will be closed Friday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Jan. 1.

Employee vaccinations begin at Beebe

Beebe Healthcare nurse Sintia Rodriguez stepped up Dec. 16 to become the first person vaccinated for COVID-19 in Sussex County. The Lewes resident, who works in Beebe’s emergency department and behavioral health unit with COVID-19 patients, many from her community, looked confident as she stood first in line for the shot at Beebe Healthcare. “I’m grateful to get this. It represents something good to do for the community. If it prevents people from getting sick, why not get the vaccine?” she asked. Beebe received its shipment of 630 doses from the Delaware Division of Public Health just hours before Rodriguez received the first dose of the Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine.

December 15, 2020 Milton council to meet Dec. 15 Milton Town Council will meet at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Milton Town Hall to discuss and possibly vote on ordinances related to two annexation petitions. The first petition is for Milton Attainable Housing LLC, which is seeking to annex 26 acres at the corner of Route 16 and Country Road, that would then be developed into 239 housing units and four pad sites for commercial businesses.  The second petition is for BBD LLC, on behalf of Stephen and Lynn Dexter, who wish to annex a nearly 8-acre parcel at the intersection of Route 16 and Union Street Extended, and then develop it as a commercial office and storage facility.
