Man given community order for Andover sex offence

AN ANDOVER man will stand trial, charged with harassment against a woman. Daniel Christopher George Hewlett, of May Tree Road, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on March 29, accused of unwanted calls and messages. The 36-year-old denied the offence. He also denied three counts of posting on Instagram in breach of a previous order, but indicated a guilty plea to messaging and calling the woman when prohibited. He will stand trial at the same court on October 25. Sexual offences A MAN who committed a sexual offence in Andover has been issued a community order. Christopher James Downes, from Barford St Martin, Salisbury, watched a person in a ‘private act’ for ‘sexual gratification’, without their consent.
