Heavy Rains Miss Rochester But Some Areas Got a Good Soaking Get our free mobile app Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester area continues to experience a major moisture deficit, but some areas of southern Minnesota saw their deficits largely erased by Saturday s storms. It appears the heaviest rain fell in south-central Minnesota and in the far southeast corner of the state. The National Weather Service is reporting almost 3 inches of rain at La Crescent, 2.7 inches in Preston, and almost 2.4 inches in Lanesboro. To the west and northwest of Rochester, estimates put the rainfall totals at around 4-inches in an area between Mankato and Waterville. The same estimates also show around 4 inches of rain fell in the Faribault and Northfield areas.

Record Warmth in Rochester For May Day Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Southeastern Minnesota was visited by record-setting heat on Saturday. The National Weather Service reported the high temperature hit 91 degrees at the Rochester Airport in the afternoon, which beat the previous record for May 1st set in 1992 when the mercury peaked at 89 degrees. It was the first 90-degree reading of the year and was the warmest it has been in Rochester since August 26th when the afternoon high was also 91 degrees. It was a bit cooler in downtown Rochester, where the afternoon high at the Mayo Clinic helipad on top of St. Marys Hospital was 86-degrees.
