Good news as we enjoy temperatures climbing back up into the upper upper 80 s and low 90 s another Rochester, Minnesota, watering hole has opened up for seven day a week use.
According to Rochester Parks and Rec, as of today, July 20, 2021, the mining at Cascade Lake is now done. That means the beach and the water are now open seven days a week until Labor Day (Monday, September 6th).

“We are excited to be able to have the beach and water open to residents and visitors any day of the week. Cascade Lake continues to be a well trafficked park and we are happy it is being enjoyed.”

(ABC 6 News) - Cascade Lake beach will now be open seven days a week until Labor Day.
The City of Rochester Parks & Recreation Department said that mining activities that had been taking place are now complete.
Recreation Supervisor Ben Boldt shares, “We are excited to be able to have the beach and water open to residents and visitors any day of the week. Cascade Lake continues to be a well-trafficked park and we are happy it is being enjoyed.”
Mathy Construction, who has been the mining operator has a permit that was set to end in 2023. They have completed the mining work ahead of schedule. There is still restoration work to be completed and the large sand pile on site will be removed. That work is set to occur over the next year or two. Mathy Construction was one of the previous landowners and retained the rights to complete the mining activities.

RPD receiving less reports of graffti this summer
The department has so far only received seven reports of graffiti from May-July 2021 compared to 15 from May-July 2020.

ROCHESTER, Minn.- It s been a quiet year in The Med City in terms of graffiti. The Rochester Police Department has received fewer vandals with spray paint cans this spring-summer compared to last year.
According to Amanda Grayson, the department s crime prevention and communications coordinator, RPD has only received seven reports of graffiti this summer. Last year, it received 15 reports.
Residents including Ana Zenia-Barril are happy to hear about the low statistics for the crime.
