(ABC 6 News) - Cascade Lake beach will now be open seven days a week until Labor Day.
The City of Rochester Parks & Recreation Department said that mining activities that had been taking place are now complete.
Recreation Supervisor Ben Boldt shares, “We are excited to be able to have the beach and water open to residents and visitors any day of the week. Cascade Lake continues to be a well-trafficked park and we are happy it is being enjoyed.”
Mathy Construction, who has been the mining operator has a permit that was set to end in 2023. They have completed the mining work ahead of schedule. There is still restoration work to be completed and the large sand pile on site will be removed. That work is set to occur over the next year or two. Mathy Construction was one of the previous landowners and retained the rights to complete the mining activities.
