Local emergency med tech teaches CPR | News, Sports, Jobs

KEVIN RAUCH/THE EXPRESS Longtime emergency medical technician Bill Winkelman, left, certified 12 people in CPR as he continues to put his 30 years of experience into helping others learn the potentially lifesaving practice. Winkelman does the certifications on his own time, willing to hold a class whenever at least three people have the need or want to be certified. In addition to his time, Bill often spends his own money on mannequins or updated books that students need to successfully learn CPR and then pass the written course. Winkelman did seek outside funding last year as businesses like Smith Lumber, Renovo Disposal Service and local fire companies Chapman Township and Renovo Fire Department graciously made donations. The EMT plans another fundraising request this year allowing him to keep the most up-to-date apparatus for students. Here, Winkelman instructs Jennifer Motter with a hands-on approach to the scenario of finding someone not breathing.
