(Credit: YouTube/Screenshot) The organizer of a proposed drag racing series at the Enterprise Park at Calverton addressed a number of concerns related to safety, noise and the environment during Thursday’s Town Board work session. Pete Scalzo, who has a pending special event application for an multi-series event called Race Track Not Street at EPCAL, said all vehicles racing on the temporary 1/8-mile track on the 7,000-foot EPCAL runway will be required to have a muffler. Vehicles will be inspected prior to racing, he said. Motorcycles would not be permitted to race as well.

Police seek public s help to locate Wading River man - Riverhead News Review

Update (1:30 p.m.): Police have located the Wading River man previously reported as missing. He was located unharmed, police said. Original Story: Riverhead Town police are seeking the public’s help to locate a 34-year-old man who has been reported missing. Steven Adams was last seen at noon Saturday at Pete B. Service Auto Repair in Middle Island. He has not returned to his Wading River home or contacted anyone. Police said he is 5-foot-7, 175 pounds with a light complexion, blue eyes and brown hair. He has an Iron Maiden tattoo on his left arm. If anyone has information on his whereabouts, contact Riverhead police at 631-727-4500, ext. 312. All calls will be kept confidential.

Town posts marijuana survey results showing majority of respondents in favor of retail sales (Credit: Prensa 420/Flickr) More than 1,400 people who responded to Riverhead Town’s online survey on marijuana are, for the most part, largely in favor of allowing both retail sale of marijuana and on-site consumption in cafes and lounges. The survey results were released by the town Thursday after residents were asked to weigh in before the town decides whether to opt out of a portion of the recent state legislation legalizing the recreational drug. The results showed: • A total 1,032 respondents, or 73.35%, said they support the sale of in-store cannabis in the Town of Riverhead.
