Riverhead Town police arrested Fredy Chamale Coc, age and hamlet unavailable, for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident along Osborn Avenue shortly before midnight Saturday. • A man damaged a door at the Bay Breeze Inn in Jamesport early Sunday. Police were called to the inn but no charges were filed against the man. • Police were notified that an unknown person trespassed on the Long Island Cauliflower Association property on Marcy Avenue and slept in a truck overnight Monday morning. • Police were called to a dispute over a dog left in a vehicle in the Stop & Shop parking lot Sunday afternoon. The parties were separated and matter resolved, police said.

Riverhead students pitch business ideas on Chamber Tank

The Riverhead Chamber of Commerce and Riverhead High School are teaming up to produce “Chamber Tank,” a variation on the popular TV show “Shark Tank.” Students can pitch business proposals to business owners in the chamber, some of whom are Riverhead High School alumni. The students have a chance to win cash prizes of $500 and possibly more, according to Bob Kern, the president of the Riverhead Chamber who will also serve as a coach. The competition is virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “It’s like ‘Shark Tank’ for students,” Mr. Kern said. “Entrepreneurs make presentations to successful people to try and get them to invest.”

Cops: Driver dies in early morning crash at EPCAL entrance

A 61-year-old Coram man died in a two-car crash early Thursday morning near the entrance to Enterprise Park at Calverton, according to Riverhead Town police. Police said Leonor Parra-Nunez was driving a Nissan Maxima north on Burman Boulevard and failed to stop at a red light at the intersection with Route 25. His vehicle was struck by a Chevrolet Equinox SUV driven by Rolando Ajcuc-Chamale, 33, of Calverton. The SUV was traveling east on Route 25, police said. Members of the Wading River Fire Department responded to extricate Mr. Parra-Nunez from the vehicle and he was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, police said.
