(Credit: Tim Gannon) The Suffolk County Water Authority on Thursday designated a plan to bring public water to a portion of Manorville in Brookhaven Town as a “Type II” action, which officials say will facilitate the securing of funds for the project. The $6.75 million project affects 64 homes in the Brookhaven Town portion of Manorville. “We stand ready to bring high quality water to residents who need it badly,” said SCWA chief executive officer Jeffrey Szabo in a release. “We are fully prepared to move forward.”

Patrick McDermott and officer Anthony Montalbano, which went into effect Wednesday, fill two current vacancies. The Town Board unanimously approved the resolution for the promotion and the board members each wished the new sergeants good luck. Councilman Tim Hubbard said police chief David Hegermiller would have “to look far and wide to find two finer officers to promote to sergeant.”

(Credit: Grant Parpan) Island Water Park is seeking a 20-year payment in lieu of taxes agreement, along with other tax incentives, on its proposed water park and recreational facility at the Enterprise Park at Calverton. During a presentation Monday before the Riverhead Industrial Development Agency, Daniel Baker, an attorney for the applicant, said Island Water Park is seeking three incentives from the IDA. These are an exemption from paying mortgage recording taxes, worth an estimated $75,000; an exemption from sales tax, estimated at about $1.3 million, and possibly higher; and the 20-year PILOT arrangement, the specifics of which are still being negotiated with the IDA.

Police seek public s help to locate missing teen - Riverhead News Review

Riverhead Town police are seeking the public’s help to locate a 16-year-old girl who was reported missing from Little Flower Children and Family Services. Police said Alexis Vasquez left the Wading River campus without permission on Friday. No foul play is suspected, police said. Alexis is Black, 5-foot-3, 130 pounds with a dark complexion, brown eyes and curly hair. She had also been reported missing in March after leaving Little Flower and police said she had been located 2 1/2 weeks later. Anyone with information on her current whereabouts is asked to contact police at 631-727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential.

Blotters: Flanders man charged with assault - Riverhead News Review

Southampton Town police arrested a 28-year-old Flanders man on assault charges after he hit a man in the face with a drill in Riverside early last Tuesday. Santos Perez-Macario was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon following the incident, which was reported to police after 2 a.m. • Detectives are investigating after six extension ladders and one scaffolding stage were stolen from the backyard of a residence along Wood Road Trail in Flanders sometime between Friday, April 16 and last Wednesday morning. • A 37-year-old Pat-ch-ogue man was arrested for driving with a suspended license in Northampton Friday afternoon.
