Students block traffic demanding JAC result review | Ranchi News

Ranchi: Students who failed to perform well in Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) class X and class XII exams took to the streets of the Jharkhand capital demanding a review by the council. The students, led by Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad, blocked the road near the residence of state education minister Jagarnnath Mahto in Doranda. A class XII student from Chatra district, Uttam Kumar Gupta, said judging the students by the class XI performance is incorrect. He reasoned, “Is it certain that a student who fared badly in class XI will do the same in class XII? The JAC should correct our results.” Anu Kumari of Ranchi Women’s College claimed that she failed despite scoring good marks in Class XI.

CM launches free vax drive for 18-44 yrs, 38k inoculated | Ranchi News

Ranchi: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Friday inaugurated the Phase III statewide Covid-19 free vaccination drive to inoculate people in the age group of 18 and 44 years. Of the total of 1.57 crore beneficiaries eligible in this phase, 37,682 people were vaccinated at 585 sites on the inaugural day. Another 40,900 beneficiaries booked their slots to take the jabs on Friday. Among those vaccinated, 856 people took their shots in Ranchi. Soren inaugurated the drive from the vaccination session site set up for the phase at Shri Krishna Institute of Public Administration (SKIPA) on Meur’s Road and he oversaw the vaccination of the first two beneficiaries. Health minister Banna Gupta and health department secretary Arun Kumar Singh were also present on the occasion.

Representative image RANCHI: After testing drives were started at the city’s schools, 25 students of Indira Gandhi Balika Awasiya Vidyalaya (IGBAV) in Bundu were found to be Covid-19 positive in the last 48 hours. Meanwhile, schools across the state capital said they would wait for some time before switching over to offline classes for the new academic session and continue with the online classes amid a surge in the number of fresh cases. Regional deputy director (education) Arwind Vijay Bilung said, “Tests were conducted at IGBAV after some of the students developed symptoms. Four students were found positive on Wednesday and were isolated within the hostel, but the tally rose to 25 on Thursday after 21 others tested positive through rapid antigen tests.” The reports of many other students are awaited.
