OHIO experts discuss accessibility during Global Accessibility Awareness Day Published: May 20, 2021 Author: Staff reports In honor of Global Accessibility Awareness day on May 20, Ohio University deans and professors discussed ways we can improve accessibility, as well as identify accessibility challenges that many individuals experience every day, in the latest Ask the Experts livestream. They talked about how to be more inclusive when designing for those with disabilities, accessibility issues in the digital space, and resources that can support accessibility. The discussion featured Carey Busch, interim dean of University College, Greg Kremer, professor of mechanical engineering in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology, and John McCarthy, professor and interim dean of the College of Health Sciences and Professions.

OHIO professor Sumit Sharma receives National Science Foundation CAREER award to study metallic nanoparticles Published: May 18, 2021 Author: Jalyn Bolyard Ben Siegel/Ohio University Sumit Sharma Sumit Sharma, assistant professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering in Ohio University’s Russ College of Engineering and Technology, was recently awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) five-year, $511,902 grant to study the adsorption behavior of surfactant, or soap-like, molecules on metallic nanoparticles. The CAREER program gives the NSF’s most prestigious awards to support early-career faculty who have shown potential to serve as academic role models in research and education as well as lead advances in the mission of their department. Sharma has been with OHIO since 2015, and was recently notified that his tenure application was approved for Fall 2021 and forward.

Back L-R: 2Lt Mark Vorndran, 2Lt Derek Weber, 2Lt Cole Losoncy Ohio University’s Air Force ROTC Detachment 650 commissioned six cadets as officers in the United States Air Force on Saturday, May 1, 2021. During a ceremony in Baker University Center, the six cadets were commissioned as Second Lieutenants.  Kyle Dunlap, from Zanesville, Ohio, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Russ College of Engineering and Technology of Arts and Sciences and will serve as a Developmental Engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
