OHIO receives Choose Ohio First grant to support STEM students Published: April 6, 2021 Author: Staff reports Ben Siegel/Ohio University Ohio University has been awarded a Choose Ohio First (COF) grant by the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) to support students in critical STEM fields. The $1,068,522 grant over five years is to recruit and support each cohort during its educational journey. The grant supports students in science, including health professions, technology, engineering and mathematics. Joel Laufman has many passions in life, but two of them drinking coffee and helping veterans have a new business brewing in Athens. Laufman, an Ohio University alumnus and Vietnam War veteran, has partnered with the Patton College of Education’s Restaurant, Hotel and Tourism (RHT) program and Passion Works Studio to create Ornery Vets Cafe. The cafe, which is located on 30 E. State Street, is having its grand opening on March 11, 9-11 a.m.
