Greensborough Highway Patrol are investigating following a two-car collision in Epping on Thursday evening.
Investigators have been told a silver Holden Commodore was observed by police travelling north on Edgars Road at a fast rate of speed when officers attempted to intercept the vehicle.
The vehicle failed to pull over and police did not pursue the vehicle.
A short time later, the vehicle collided into a black Hyundai at the intersection of cooper street about 10.20pm.
A driver of the Commodore, a 19-year-old Hampton Park man, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries.
Two passengers, aged 19 and 21 both from Mt Evelyn, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

IGA is saying ‘Thank You’ to Australians for supporting its independently owned stores during the COVID-19 pandemic in new TVC.
Featuring Shane Jacobson, it shows the connection IGA stores have with local communities and how important the continued support of customers was over the past year.
Similar to most recent IGA campaigns, the TVC features real IGA store owners, including Linh Nguyen, owner of Thai Kee IGA in NSW, Tony Ingpen, owner of Mt Evelyn IGA in Victoria, and Lee-Anne Woodgate, owner of Pearsall IGA. The owners talk about the support they were able to offer to their communities thanks to their loyal shoppers.

IGA has launched a new campaign via The Core Agency, that thanks Australians for choosing to shop at independent family owned IGA stores over the past year through the height of the COVID-19 challenges.
The new TVC, featuring Shane Jacobson, shows how choosing to shop at IGA means far more than people realise. Because of their customers’ support, IGA store owners across the country were able to employ more locals when so many needed a job. It meant that they could continue to support local suppliers when they needed it most. And it meant that IGA stores could keep supporting all the local charities and community groups who do such fantastic work.
