Animal Academy is a series that’s really starting to grow on me. I like pleasant, low-key stories, and Animal Academy is nothing if not pleasant and low-key. There aren’t as many introductions to be made in this second volume of Animal Academy, but apart from that, this volume is much like the first. It has a story, and the story is going somewhere, but it’s taking its own sweet time about it. This may turn away some readers, but I’m finding the series a refreshing one to turn to. It’s just so…so pleasant.

Originally serialized in Comic Shitsurakuten from the February 2021 installment, Everlasting Summer Island is a twelve-page story from creator Miyamoto Liz, who has about ten other works on the service. This was my second experience with their work after looking for something new to check out and with this one being the latest series, it was definitely easy to try out, especially a story about the summer while it was the middle of winter when I first started it. The sun, the warmth, the flesh all over. It’s easily enticing and Miyamoto’s designed definitely made it even easier to get into.
