Gerritsen earns MPA Award
Contributed • April 16, 2021 Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School’s principal, Dr. Kay York, has announced the recipient of the 2021 Principal’s Award, senior Amy Gerritsen of Bridgewater.
MARS HILL, Maine Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School’s principal, Dr. Kay York, has announced the recipient of the 2021 Principal’s Award, senior Amy Gerritsen of Bridgewater.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic excellence, outstanding school citizenship and leadership.
Throughout high school, Gerritsen has shown great dedication and determination, striving to do her best academically and in her extracurricular activities including sports, community service and working at Wood Prairie Family Farms.

MARS HILL, Maine Schools in SAD 42 were closed to classes Wednesday after families were notified that a student had tested positive for COVID-19.
By Wednesday afternoon, Superintendent Elaine Boulier had shifted the schools to remote learning starting Thursday, Jan. 7, because a second person had tested positive. The tentative return date was set for Jan. 19.
