Sumner principal, assistant principal to step down
SULLIVAN Sumner Memorial High School Principal Ty Thurlow and Assistant Principal Jayme Jones have submitted their resignations. Both resignations take effect June 30.
Regional School Unit 24 Superintendent Michael Eastman confirmed the resignations Monday.
“We certainly wish them the best,” he said, adding that both educators “resigned to seek alternative employment.”
Thurlow, who was named Sumner’s principal in 2016, was slated to lead the Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus, the grades 6-through-12 school under construction behind the current high school. Eastman said school administrators were figuring out a plan for whomever is hired as the next principal to transition over to the combined school.
