Jewish Federation of Cincinnati hires new Chief Development Officer

  The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati has named Tamara Harkavy as its Chief Development Officer (CDO). As CDO, Harkavy will be responsible for working with professionals and volunteers to steward the Federation Endowment, whose assets are more than one hundred million dollars. She will also oversee the Federation’s annual fundraising effort of eight to ten million dollars, and lead the day-to-day management and supervision of a team of sixteen professionals plus nearly a hundred volunteers and lay leaders, all of whom support the community’s agencies and partners.   She will also work closely with The Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati to coordinate donor cultivation for both annual giving and endowments, and the oversight of management, execution, and metrics of the Foundation-supported grant, Strengthening Individual Giving.

Louisa County still short 100 responses for planning and zoning questionnaire Jim Rudisill for The Hawk Eye WAPELLO Louisa County residents are not providing enough responses to a questionnaire being distributed as part of a comprehensive plan update, members of the Louisa County Planning and Zoning Commission agreed Tuesday during its monthly meeting. According to commission members and zoning administrator Brian Thye, representatives of the Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission, which is conducting the research for Louisa County’s updated 2040 Plan, had hoped to receive at least 300 responses back from the questionnaire. However, LCPZC Chair Michael Vance said Tuesday that when he last talked with SEIRPC Assistant Director Zack James, who is spearheading the research, only about 200 responses had been received.

Jim Rudisill for The Hawk Eye WAPELLO An effort to remove an adult entertainment section from the Louisa County Zoning Ordinance will continue to move forward, but at a slower pace than originally planned, members of the Louisa County Planning and Zoning Commission informally agreed Tuesday during the commission’s monthly meeting. The issue originally was raised by commission chair Michael Vance during the commission’s Dec. 1 meeting, when he reported the original developers of the ordinance, which was approved in 1971, apparently felt a strong need to regulate the businesses because they had devoted more than five pages to them.
