IBA names award winners, new board members The Illinois Beef Association hosted its annual summer conference and tour June 8-9 in East Peoria, Ill. Throughout the two-day event, members attended workshops, visited farms, elected new leaders and awarded outstanding individuals. This year, five offices were available on the IBA board. The following were elected: President Paul Walker, Danvers, Ill. Vice President Dave Duzan, Lexington, Ill. At-Large Policy Director Wes Hornback, Monticello, Ill. At-Large Policy Director Cody Lowderman, Macomb, Ill. District 3 Checkoff Division Director Jamie Martz, Maple Park, Ill. Walker says he looks forward to representing Illinois beef producers throughout his time in the role as president.

District places WPHS on remote learning Tabi Jozwick, Voice Correspondent SCIOTA During Thursday’s meeting, West Prairie Superintendent Guy Gradert told the school board West Prairie High School students would be in remote learning from Friday until April 30. The superintendent said about 75 to 80 high school students were absent on Thursday, which was about half of the high school student population. He said he consulted with both the McDonough County Health Department and West Prairie school board president Lee Moore before deciding to place the high school under remote learning. Gradert told the school board that for the health and safety of their high school students, he recommended that the high school does not participate in extracurricular activities while being under remote learning.
