District places WPHS on remote learning

SCIOTA During Thursday’s meeting, West Prairie Superintendent Guy Gradert told the school board West Prairie High School students would be in remote learning from Friday until April 30.
The superintendent said about 75 to 80 high school students were absent on Thursday, which was about half of the high school student population. He said he consulted with both the McDonough County Health Department and West Prairie school board president Lee Moore before deciding to place the high school under remote learning.
Gradert told the school board that for the health and safety of their high school students, he recommended that the high school does not participate in extracurricular activities while being under remote learning.
