SANTA ROSA BEACH Residents of Somerby Senior Living got an unusual visit Friday in the form of Mr. Peanut, the more than 100-year-old legume mascot of the Planters brand nuts.
Sporting his signature top hat and monocle, Mr. Peanut arrived at the assisted living facility in the Planters NUTmobile.
“The NUTmobile is a 26-foot peanut on wheels,” said Shannon Hope, who is one of nine crew members or “Peanutters” who drive Planters’ three NUTmobiles around the country for a year.
“We stop in a new city each week and our goal in every city is just to spread smiles and bring joy to the communities we visit, Hope said.
