ESCANABA Public Health Delta & Menominee Counties (PHDM) has provided an update of local COVID-19 vaccination efforts. The agency reports a decrease in demand for vaccinations locally.
On Monday, April 26, PHDM received 1,500 doses of the Moderna vaccine. Six hundred of these doses were first doses and 900 were second doses. In addition, PHDM received 200 doses of the Pfizer vaccine for two clinics targeted towards the 16- and 17-year-old population.
During the week of April 26 to May 2, PHDM held four clinics and administered 383 doses. All of the doses administered during the week were first doses. Two of the clinics were held at Bay College in Escanaba, one clinic was held at the Pullman House in Menominee and one was held at the Menominee High School.

SKANDIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. Diane Marie McAlpine, age 72, of Skandia Township, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at UP Health System-Marquette.
Born October 11, 1948, in Marinette, Wisconsin, a daughter of Joseph and Eleanor (Sheteck) Preewrocki, Diane was raised in Menominee and Daggett. She attended the Birch Creek Grade School and graduated from Menominee High School, Class of 1967. In the 1970s, Diane moved to Negaunee where she later met her future husband, Bill. On July 25, 1997, Diane was united in marriage to William H. McAlpine, in Marquette, with their wedding celebration in Daggett. The couple were a great match and made their home in Skandia where they enjoyed living in the woods, surrounded by nature. They loved the area, socializing with friends, and their house was always open and welcoming. Favorite past times were watching and feeding the birds that frequented her yard, her favorite being owls.

ESCANABA Public Health Delta & Menominee Counties provided an update on COVID-19 vaccinations Tuesday.
On Monday, March 1, PHDM received 1,000 first doses of the Moderna vaccine. All one thousand of the doses were shipped to the Delta County office. OSF St. Francis Hospital also received 100 doses of the Moderna Vaccine and redistributed the vaccine to PHDM.
On Thursday, March 4 the PHDM Menominee County office received 400 first doses of the Moderna vaccine. PHDM also received 700 second doses this week.
During the week of March 1 to March 7, PHDM held five clinics and administered 1,974 doses 1,192 first doses and 782 second doses to those 65 years of age and older, health care workers, first responders, jail staff and pre-K through 12 teachers. Two of the clinics were second dose clinics held at Bay College, one second dose clinic was held at the Menominee High School. One first dose clinic was held at Bay College and another at the Pullman House Supper Club in Menominee.
