Lake, Sumter vaccines surpass 254,000; 11 new deaths reported

The majority – 130,392 in Lake County and 68,493 in Sumter – received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.   They are among more than 7 million people statewide – 7,021,068 – who have completed one of the three series of vaccinations. Nearly 9.3 million people in Florida – 9,265,816 – have received at least one dose of the vaccines.   In Lake County, 179 vaccines were administered Saturday, based on the DOH’s preliminary figures released Sunday. Of that total, 65 doses were the first of the two-shot series, with the remaining 114 completing either of the two-shot series.

Elderly driver dies at local hospital after collision on Bear Valley Road in Victorville on Friday Victorville Daily Press Despite life-saving measures at a local hospital, a 65-year-old man died Friday after he was involved in a traffic collision on Bear Valley Road in Victorville, authorities said. The Victorville Sheriff s Station Major Accident Investigation Team said the unidentified man attempted to turn east onto Bear Valley Road from Industrial Boulevard when his driver s side was hit by a second vehicle traveling west on Bear Valley Road. After receiving a call at about 5:40 a.m. Friday, deputies and Victorville Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and began performing CPR on the senior driver from Victorville, sheriff’s authorities said.

The majority – 126,101 in Lake County and 67,500 in Sumter – received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.   They are among more than 6.6 million people statewide – 6,663,786 – who have completed one of the three series of vaccinations. Moer than 9 million people in Florida – 9,101,152 – have received at least one dose of the vaccines.   In Lake County, 496 vaccines were administered Wednesday, based on the DOH’s preliminary figures for that day. Of that total, 132 doses were the first of the two-shot series, with the remaining 364 completing either of the two-shot series.

Electrical Fire Near Las Cruces Brought Under Control

Upon arrival at 11:30 a.m., Doña Ana County Fire Department and Emergency Services firefighters found the mobile homes unoccupied and no injuries were reported.  The electrical fire was brought under control at 12:15 p.m. and claimed two mobile homes, which were a total loss. Ambulance Medical Response, AMR, Doña Ana Sheriff’s Office, DASO, the City of Las Cruces and NASA Fire Departments assisted 24 Doña Ana County firefighters. Information from Doña Ana County
