• 2 hours ago A residential structure fire on the 6000 block of Fox Road in Organ was reported at 11:13 a.m. Monday, May 3. Upon arrival at 11:30 a.m., Doña Ana County Fire Department and Emergency Services firefighters found the mobile homes unoccupied and no injuries were reported.
The electrical fire was brought under control at 12:15 p.m. and claimed two mobile homes, which were a total loss.
Ambulance Medical Response, AMR, Doña Ana Sheriff’s Office, DASO, the City of Las Cruces and NASA Fire Departments assisted 24 Doña Ana County firefighters.

LAS CRUCES – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham approved $28.2 million in capital outlay projects for Doña Ana County as part of a $511 million capital bill this month; and for the first time, the public can see how and where state legislators and the governor directed the public infrastructure dollars under their discretion.
That s because lawmakers passed a law during this winter s 60-day legislative session requiring the previously secret funding requests to be published by the Legislative Council Service along with the funded projects, including projects that were vetoed.
Lujan Grisham vetoed a small percentage of projects, including three in Doña Ana County, explaining in a statement that she eliminated projects that were too small (under $10,000), projects where the proposed recipients have not used capital funds from the current fiscal year, were not properly planned or otherwise not ready to proceed.

LAS CRUCES - As the ashes of a half dozen mobile home trailers sit behind red caution tape, onlooking neighbors can only shake their heads at the tragic fire that claimed the lives of several dogs and every earthy possession their fellow neighbors possessed.
At least six mobile homes were “a total loss in a fire in a mobile home park on Gala Way Lane in Chaparral Friday afternoon,” according to a news release from Doña Ana County.
“It was like seconds, that’s what it felt like to me, before I knew it, it was gone,” Kathy Johnson said about her trailer on Saturday. “I sat there and watched everything gone.”
