Manipal: Two students of Manipal Institute of Technology, MAHE, Manipal, Ms. Akshatha Kamath, Computer Science & Engineering and Mr. Dhruv Suri, Aeronautical Engineering, have been awarded the prestigious Knight-Hennessy Scholarship for pursuing Master’s Program at Stanford University, USA. The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program is a prestigious award that fosters a multidisciplinary, multicultural community of emerging leaders from around the world and guides them to collaborate, innovate, and communicate as they prepare to address the complex challenges facing the society. Akshatha and Dhruv are the only 2 students selected from India among the total of 76 students representing 26 countries that have made to the program this year.
MANIPAL: A month ago, the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) campus was declared a containment zone, and gradually around 1,000 Covid-19 cases were reported from the campus.
It had been a difficult phase for the students, but now, many have come forward to lend a helping hand to those suffering due to the pandemic.
Sociio that aims at connecting people socially, has commenced work on project Ichor.
This project connects potential donors with compatible patients who need convalescent plasma, basically bridging the gap between the donors and the patients.
Sociio Ichor is an initiative by engineering students Manorath Khanna, Pratik Shewkani, Mohammed Dilshaad Uzair, Amulya Kollipara, Abhishek Gupta, and Arushi Agrawal., with Dr Arun Shanbhag, Chief Innovation Officer, manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), as the mentor for Sociio.

After graduating from Manipal Institute of Technology, Karnataka, Ankur started working with TCS and is a tech enthusiast by heart. Meanwhile, Ankit became an LIC agent after doing Bachelor of Commerce from Delhi University. In 2011, they quit their jobs and started trading electronic parts.

‘AeroDes’ by IIT Kanpur is a national UAV design competition that is a part of their annual Techfest. The competition consisted of 2 rounds, a design report submission, and an oral presentation round done virtually. The objective of the competition was to address the problem statement stipulated the conceptual design of an aerial vehicle, obeying design constraints, created for commercial applications such as the delivery of goods to increase access to goods, reduce traffic in cities, and reduce CO2 emissions attributed to delivery services.
