PAUL, Minn. (KEYC) — The Minnesota State College and Universities Board of Trustees announced Wednesday that Edward Inch will serve as the 13th president of Minnesota State University, Mankato, effective July 1. Inch will be the successor to Richard Davenport, who has served as president at MSU Mankato since July 1, 2002 — which currently makes him the longest-serving president of any college or university in the state of Minnesota and the third longest-serving president in Minnesota State Mankato history.

In addition to 29 cases reported at schools across the district last week, 383 students are quarantined due to close contact reported within a school. ”What we’re looking at is where the person who is positive is seated in the classroom. The second thing we look at is how many days were they infectious and in school.”

Tim Walz announced he signed Executive Order 21-12 Monday, extending the peacetime emergency in the state as vaccination distribution ramps up. The executive order was unanimously approved by the Executive Council, which is made up of Walz, Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, Attorney General Keith Ellison, Secretary of State Steve Simon and State Auditor Julie Blaha. “We are closer than ever to ending this pandemic and returning to our daily lives – and we must keep up the momentum,” Walz said in a statement released by his office. “The peacetime emergency enables us to safeguard the progress we’ve made, protect Minnesotans’ health and well-being, and efficiently deliver the vaccine.”

Manufacturing saw the greatest annual decline at 10.5%, the service sector was down 6.2% and government jobs were down 3.95%.
