Subscriber only A father and son duo are facing seven drug and weapon-related charges after police allegedly found 800 marijuana plants at an Isaac coast property. Terrence Eric Latimore and his son Daniel Eric Latimore fronted Sarina Magistrates Court on Monday over the February 17 raid at an address along Schirmers Road in Ilbilbie. Magistrate Bronwyn Hartigan said the police search also found an ATV, quad bike, tools, generators, water pumps, water tanks and farming and gardening equipment which police alleged the Latimores used for tending the crop. The court heard there was also a caravan used in possession of marijuana, unauthorised explosives, a shotgun and a rifle.
Inspector Wells said of the 230 fines given, 170 were issued for speeding offences.
“We had one particularly scary situation where we pulled over a gentleman and his wife for speeding,” Inspector Wells said.
“They were drinking, having sips of wine, while driving, with two kids in the back,” he said.
“It’s appalling, the risk they posed to the community and their kids.”
“There were 10 crashes with 14 people injured but nothing life threatening,” Inspector Wells said.
Despite this, the officer said the community as a whole did a good job.
“We had an increased amount of traffic combined with the tempered showers and slippery roads,” he said.
Smith, a father of two, was non-responsive suffering multiple significant injuries. Fire crews and paramedics, including critical care, struggled for about an hour to remove him from the vehicle. He was then moved to the waiting RACQ CQ Rescue chopper and flown to Townsville Hospital. Mr Beamish said checks revealed he had amphetamine and methylamphetamine in his system, as well as other pain relief medication. Smith, 34, pleaded guilty to drug driving and failing to have proper control of a vehicle. Multiple emergency crews were sent to the crash site at Broken River.
