Subscriber only A big brother guilty of abhorrent sexual abuse against his sister 53 years ago has been released into the community after spending a few days in police custody. In Bowen Magistrates Court on Tuesday, Magistrate James Morton condemned the man s disgraceful act. The man, who moved to Bowen when he was 12 and completed his schooling at Bowen State High School, sat in the dock guarded by two police officers after he was remanded in custody on Friday. The 72-year-old man pleaded guilty to indecent treatment of a girl under 16 after he forced his younger sister, who was 14 at the time, to perform oral sex on him at the top of Castle Hill.

A Cannonvale man has been charged after he allegedly grabbed a fire twirler from a performer and then punched a cyclist multiple times.
Police allege the man was refused entry to a licensed venue on Shute Harbour Rd in Airlie Beach about 12.15am on Saturday.
The 25-year-old man then approached a nearby crowd watching a street performer who was using fire sticks.
Police allege the man rushed towards the fire twirler and took a fire stick before running down the street with it towards a taxi rank.
He then allegedly threw the stick over his shoulder into the air.

It was late at night when Rhys William Barlow drove straight through a give way sign south west of Mackay, smashing into a ute and seriously injuring one of the passengers.
He later told police he may have been fatigued and did not see the warning sign.
This serves as an important reminder for road safety.
Mackay Magistrates Court heard Barlow, then 19, had a zero blood alcohol reading, no drugs in his system, was not speeding and there was no indication of dangerous driving.
