UPDATE 5PM: Police are continuing to investigate reports of a carjacking in St Lawrence which left a man injured.
No arrests had been made as of late Sunday.
INITIAL 10.15AM: Police are responding to reports of a carjacking in St Lawrence which left a man injured.
A Queensland Police spokesman said a carjacking was reported on Spring Valley Road about 9.15am on Easter Sunday.
“A male victim in his 30s has allegedly been assaulted and has received some chest and facial injuries,” he said.
“Police are still looking for the alleged offenders and the car.”
It is understood up to three alleged offenders are still driving around in the stolen car.
Lawyer Peta Vernon said the 43-year-old man was born and bred in Proserpine but had been living in Maryborough for the past eight years.
Ms Vernon told the court Brown had been in and out of jail but moved back to the Whitsunday region around the time of the offence and his partner broke up with him, so he went on a bender.
The court heard the man had not slept for six days before he was found with the knife and pillow case.
Ms Vernon said Brown had an argument with someone at the pub, who made a threat to harm Brown’s nephew.
The court heard he would not say how the bike came into his possession and he denied knowing it was stolen.
Mr Beamish sought restitution regarding the decrease in value since the motorbike, even though it was returned, could not be sold at the same price.
However Magistrate Damien Dwyer said they could chase that through the civil court.
Stavrow pleaded guilty to illegally possessing the motorcycle with intent to deprive, and failing to appear in court.
The court heard a warrant had to be issued for the 48 year old’s arrest and he has since spent 10 days in the watch-house.
