The Victorian government has launched a taskforce to address sexual harassment in workplaces across the state through the development of a range of new reforms, including a mandatory incident-notification scheme.
The taskforce, announced by Workplace Safety Minister Ingrid Stitt, Minister for Women Gabrielle Williams, and acting Premier James Merlino on Monday, will look at ways to bolster the occupational health and safety framework to address sexual harassment.
The group will also clarify employer obligations to improve accountability, consider ways to prevent the misuse of non-disclosure agreements in sexual harassment matters, and support workers to speak up against sexual harassment.

Construction surges ahead at Wollert East Community Centre
The development of the new community centre in Wollert East reached an exciting milestone this week, with the completion of the concrete foundation providing an expansive base for the highly-anticipated community services hub.
City of Whittlesea Administrator Peita Duncan was joined by The Hon. Lily D’Ambrosio MP and Bronwyn Halfpenny MP to inspect the progress of the future multi-purpose community centre and proudly oversaw the concrete pouring.
The centre, located on De Rossi Boulevard, will provide essential services to the booming population in the city’s north. It will include a modern three‑room kindergarten, two fully equipped maternal and child health consulting suites, a community hall, meeting spaces for community groups and an outdoor area.

The bilingual program of Lalor North Primary School (LNPS), the only such state-run Greek educational environment in Victoria, has been hailed by many for the excellence of its 45-year program. It operated as a three-classroom environment until 2019, however the decision to create a two-classroom model has caused concern.
Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) Deputy Theo Markos has met with Lily D’Ambrosio, member for Mill Park, and Bronwyn Halfpenny, member for Thomastown, both of who agree that a three-model method would work best and stated an intent to meet with Victoria’s Education Minister James Merlino.
So far, the School leadership (Principal and Deputy Principal) have been unsympathetic towards the proposal for a three-model classroom and there is concern by parents that the historic program is being undermined rather than supported and valued by the school’s custodians.
