Reidsville s Breon Pass named male athlete of the year at HighSchoolOT Honors

Reidsville basketball and football star Breon Pass has been named as the male athlete of the year at HighSchoolOT Honors.
Pass was a key contributor to Reidsville s three-time state champion football team as a wide receiver.
On the basketball court, Pass helped establish Reidsville as a regular contender in 2A basketball, cementing himself as one of the state s top players and earning a scholarship to play at NC State.
In 2020, Pass was nominated for the Stuart Scott Courage Award at HighSchoolOT Honors for the way he handled the passing of his father, also his head basketball coach, and continued on as a leader for the Ram programs.

Raleigh, N.C. The 2020-2021 school year was anything but normal. Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, the sports schedules were changed, seasons were shortened, and athletics were disrupted.
HighSchoolOT Honors presented by Crabtree aims to recognize all that is good in high school sports though.
On Thursday evening, winners of 37 different awards were named 36 of them voted on by the public, and a Lifetime Achievement Award winner selected by the HighSchoolOT staff.
Public nominations were accepted throughout the school year. At the end of the year, the HighSchoolOT staff narrowed the nominees down to five finalists in each category. Then, over the course of a few weeks, the public was allowed to vote for the winners.

The amount of football programs in North Carolina that are consistently good from year-to-year means that we get a good amount of continuity in the later rounds of the playoffs.
With the amount of time between the fall 2019 season and the spring 2021 season combined with the amount of the state s top seniors enrolling in college early, it was fair to wonder if this season would be an opportunity for increased parity and some new teams at the top.
That has happened to a degree, but many of the same teams still find themselves deep into the postseason.
No. 5 Reidsville leaves no doubt in 48-14 victory against No. 25 East Surry

Pilot Mountain, N.C. Reidsville began its quest to three-peat as 2A football state champions and did so in style.
The Rams left David H. Diamont Stadium on Friday night with a convincing 48-14 win over East Surry. Reidsville came into week two rankled No. 5 in the HighSchoolOT Top 25 West football poll, while East Surry was slotted in at No. 25.
Back in 2019, East Surry and Reidsville played arguably the Triad’s best high school game on Sept. 25. The Cardinals won 55-49 and that was actually the last defeat Reidsville has suffered nearly 530 days ago. Both teams won state championships at their respective classifications that season in impressive fashion: East Surry (56-28 over Tarboro in 1AA) and Reidsville (14-0 over Northeastern in 2A).

No. 20 Reidsville moved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in Mid-State 2A Conference play with its 66-55 home win over Carrboro on Thursday. The Rams were paced by senior Breon Pass and sophomore Tamir Jackson with 25 and 16 points respectively.
