Reidsville began its quest to three-peat as 2A football state champions and did so in style. The Rams left David H. Diamont Stadium on Friday night with a convincing 48-14 win over East Surry. Reidsville came into week two rankled No. 5 in the HighSchoolOT Top 25 West football poll, while East Surry was slotted in at No. 25. Back in 2019, East Surry and Reidsville played arguably the Triad’s best high school game on Sept. 25. The Cardinals won 55-49 and that was actually the last defeat Reidsville has suffered nearly 530 days ago. Both teams won state championships at their respective classifications that season in impressive fashion: East Surry (56-28 over Tarboro in 1AA) and Reidsville (14-0 over Northeastern in 2A).
