BJP’s L Murugan loses to DMK s Kayalvizhi in Dharapuram by 1393 votes

L Murugan, the present of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Tamil Nadu, is fighting the 2021 state assembly election from the Dharapuram constituency. And, while he was ahead for a while, Murugan lost seat against, Kayalvizhi N by over 1393 votes.
This is the fourth time that Murugan has contested an election in his political career. However, this is his first time stepping onto the field after being appointed to the saffron party’s state leadership in March 2020. Murugan had been quite confident about his win, telling reporters that he would come out ahead by at least 10,000 votes prior to counting day. He predicted that he was a shoe in since the DMK candidate was a new face, relatively unknown within the political landscape.

Darjeeling (West Bengal) [India], April 12 (ANI): BJP candidate for Matigara- Naxalbari Assembly constituency in West Bengal s Darjeeling district Anandamay Barman has tested positive for COVID-19.
Barman, who is a school teacher is currently in home isolation and taking precautions for the virus.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president Praveen Agrawal along with the party supporters has taken the charge of campaigning on behalf of the Barman.
Matigara-Naxalbari Assembly constituency will go for the polls in the fifth phase scheduled on April 17.
Meanwhile, 45 Assembly segments will go to polls in this phase. The sixth round for 43 seats would be held on April 22. In the seventh phase, polling will be held for 35 constituencies on April 26.

NEW DELHI: The Election Commission on Friday ordered the suspension of four polling personnel in Ratabari (SC) assembly constituency in Assam after they violated EVM transport protocol by hitching a ride with a polled EVM in a private car, which EC said they only later found belonged to a BJP candidate’s wife.
Though the polled EVMs were found intact, the poll panel has decided to do a repoll at the concerned polling booth in Ratabari (SC) “as added precaution”.
Her remarks came over a video which surfaced on social media allegedly showing electronic voting machines (EVMs) in what was claimed to be the car of a BJP candidate in Assam.
Tagging the tweet which carried the video, Priyanka Gandhi said every time there is an election, videos of private vehicles caught transporting EVMs show up.

New Delhi [India], April 2 (ANI): The Election Commission on Friday suspended four officials after a video surfaced on social media purportedly showing an EVM being found in a BJP candidate s car in Patharkandi constituency following the second round of polling in Assam. The Presiding Officer was issued a show-cause notice for violation of the transport protocol. Thereafter, the PO and three other officials have been placed under suspension. EC said in an official statement. On examination, the polled EVM comprising of BU, CU, and VVPAT was found to be with its seal intact without any damage whatsoever. All the items have been deposited in the strong room, it said further.
