JAMUL (KUSI) – A suspected gunman who barricaded himself inside a Jamul home and refused to come out for over 16 hours was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The initial shooting was reported shortly before noon Monday at a house on Lyons Valley Road near Daley Truck Trail, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
During the initial incident, a man was shot in the upper body and taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where he underwent surgery, Lt. Pat McEvoy said. An update on the man’s condition was not immediately available.

Authorities called off a helicopter search Monday for a suspect in an armed robbery in Vista.
The robbery was reported at 8:14 a.m. in the 300 block of Vista Village Drive in Vista, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
There were no injuries reported and the sheriff’s department had no information on losses incurred in the incident, Sheriff’s Lt. Pat McEvoy said.
Authorities had been searching for a man they said was armed and dangerous. He was described as a 6-feet-tall Latino man with a goatee wearing a black hoodie with a white logo and gray pants. He had a green bandana hanging from his pocket, officials said.
SPRING VALLEY (KUSI) – A suspect was behind bars today in connection with a weekend stabbing that left two men wounded in a commercial area near Monte Vista High School.
The assault in the 2700 block of Via Orange Way in Spring Valley was reported about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, according to sheriff’s officials.
Deputies found the victims, Edgar Flores, 19, and 60-year-old Fernando Morris, in a parking lot, Lt. Pat McEvoy said. Medics took them to a hospital for treatment of wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening.
The suspected assailant, Landon Debono, 34, was arrested at the scene of the crime and booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder.
EAST COUNTY
A 34-year-old man was behind bars on suspicion of stabbing two people in a Spring Valley parking lot Sunday night, authorities said.
The stabbing was reported at about 10:30 p.m. on Via Orange Way, off Austin Drive north of Jamacha Boulevard, sheriff’s Lt. Pat McEvoy said.
Deputies responded to the scene and found a 19-year-old man and a 60-year-old had been stabbed, McEvoy said. Both victims were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies located the suspect nearby and took him into custody, the lieutenant said. The man was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
