Award winning bluegrass recording artist Lorraine Jordan and members of her Carolina Road band were in Buffalo over the weekend for two concerts at the Occidental Saloon as part of a four-day spring jam session.
Known as the “Lady of Tradition, she explained that her visit to the Occidental Hotel and Saloon was long overdue to accept the invitation from Occidental owner and renowned songwriter, David Stewart.
Two gold records grace the walls of the saloon in recognition for Stewart’s collaboration with Jordan over the past couple of years.

Late last month, both the Johnson County Commission and the Buffalo City Council passed separate resolutions paving the way for a 1% sales tax bond issue to go to the voters in this year’s August primary.
The Johnson County Community Improvement Plan is an effort to deal with the long-term sustainability of 9 taxpayer-owned properties in the county, the City of Buffalo, and the Town of Kaycee.
Now that it has officially identified as ballot issue, representatives of boards, commission, and foundations are voicing support for the plan.
