Late last month, both the Johnson County Commission and the Buffalo City Council passed separate resolutions paving the way for a 1% sales tax bond issue to go to the voters in this year’s August primary.
The Johnson County Community Improvement Plan is an effort to deal with the long-term sustainability of 9 taxpayer-owned properties in the county, the City of Buffalo, and the Town of Kaycee.
Now that it has officially identified as ballot issue, representatives of boards, commission, and foundations are voicing support for the plan.

The Johnson County Commission and the Buffalo City Council passed separate resolutions in support of taking the Johnson County Community Improvement Plan to the voters in this year’s August primary.
Both the Commission and the City Council held separate special meetings on Tuesday to consider a plan to address the continued care, maintenance, and upgrade of nine taxpayer-owned properties located in Johnson County, the City of Buffalo, and the Town of Kaycee.
The plan calls for a 20-year bond issue that includes a savings account to ensure all nine properties will have sufficient funds to remain viable for future use.
