GAINESVILLE Rylee McCall s go-ahead 3-pointer with seconds left in overtime helped lift North Hall past Dawson County, 55-51, in the first round of the Region 7-3A tournament at home on Thursday.
McCall (11 points) hit from beyond the arc with less than eight seconds to go, sending the Lady Trojans to the Class 3A state tournament for the eighth straight season. They ll play No. 1 seed Lumpkin County on Saturday in Dahlonega.

According to a news release from Christian County Public Schools, Hopkinsville’s boys’ basketball game at Daviess County scheduled for Saturday has been canceled and Christian County’s girls game with Apollo scheduled for Saturday is also canceled. Both cancelations are due to Covid protocol involving Daviess County and Apollo.
Webster County High School’s Lady Trojans basketball team has paused activities until February 1st. According to a social media post from the school, covid exposure from another team led to the halt of activities.
Trigg County’s girls’ basketball game with Webster County on January 30th has been canceled due to Webster County’s pause in basketball activities. Trigg County will now face Madisonville on that date.

The Eagles defeated the William Woods Owls 61-59 for their first conference win of the 2020-21 season in a game that went down to the wire.
The Eagles had a slow start to the game that saw them facing a 32-26 deficit at halftime. The Eagles were able to make strides at the beginning of the second half, but could never find a way to take the lead. In fact, the Eagles werenât able to take the lead until there was 2:17 left in the game, when Shackeel Butters hit two free throws that gave them a one-point lead.
