Lyon swept a basketball doubleheader Thursday. Williams Baptist split at home while Crowleyâs Ridge was swept on the road.
Williams Baptist (Women) 88, Columbia 75
A career night for Taylor Freeman (SR/Murfreesboro, Tenn.) helped lead the Lady Eagles to a comeback victory over (RV) Columbia Cougars 88-75 on Thursday night. With the win, the Lady Eagles 7-4; 4-2 in conference play.
Freeman set a new career high with 27 points, 18 of which came in the second half. The Lady Eagles went into halftime down, 45-36, but came out of halftime and really cranked it up, especially in the fourth quarter when they outscored the Cougars 32-16.

#22 Lyon women’s basketball starts the season 5-0 after a road win at Columbia. Williams Baptist men’s basketball fell at home to Central Baptist. Crowley’s Ridge women’s basketball won their 4th straight game.

In what was a highly anticipated matchup between the 22nd-ranked Lyon College women’s basketball team and (RV) Columbia College, the game lived up to the hype, as the Scots knocked off the Cougars, 64-58, on the road on Tuesday night.

Williams Baptist (Men) 61, William Woods 59
The Eagles defeated the William Woods Owls 61-59 for their first conference win of the 2020-21 season in a game that went down to the wire.
The Eagles had a slow start to the game that saw them facing a 32-26 deficit at halftime. The Eagles were able to make strides at the beginning of the second half, but could never find a way to take the lead. In fact, the Eagles werenât able to take the lead until there was 2:17 left in the game, when Shackeel Butters hit two free throws that gave them a one-point lead.
