Driver critically injured in Winston-Salem crash

Updated: 9:33 PM EDT Jul 9, 2021 WXII12.com Web Staff The Winston-Salem Police Department confirms a woman is in critical condition following a crash Friday afternoon.It happened around 3:25 p.m. at the intersection of Coliseum Dr. and Reynolda Rd.Officers said traffic lights for the northbound lanes of travel were flashing yellow, and the lights for the westbound traffic were flashing red.Investigators said the driver of a Honda Civic failed to stop for the flashing red light and collided with a Ford Club Wagon Van in the intersection.The driver of the Honda Civic, a 39-year-old woman from Rural Hall, suffered life threatening injuries. She had to be extricated from the vehicle.The van belonged to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. The driver of the van, a 70-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital for a minor arm injury.

In the Water documentary about Region coal ash pollution to screen in Michigan City

Just Transition NWI, an environmental activists group, is hosting an outdoor screening of the In the Water documentary this weekend. The movie about pollution in Northwest Indiana will be screened from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pullman Park at 550 W. 4th St. in Michigan City. “ In the Water is a film by award-winning environmental journalist Beth Edwards that chronicles the devastating impact coal ash contamination from NIPSCO has had on the Town of Pines, organizers said in a press release. A community conversation addressing how this impacts Michigan City residents and what can be done to prevent further contamination will follow.

Region faithful gather for National Day of Prayer

CROWN POINT — Barbara Parker was moved to tears as she worshiped God in the historic Lake County courthouse courtroom Thursday. Parker, who has only lived in the city for 10 months, said she was called to Crown Point, where she had a connection at Living Stones Church. The sermons and prayers given by seven Crown Point pastors all embodied what Parker, and what she says God, want to see for the world. It was the heart of God. I want to see these things happen that were prayed — the unity, Parker said. This is God s heart, the unity and the Great Awakening and people coming to know Jesus, and this country coming back to what it was founded to be that we will send out to other countries and we will be the great country we were made to be.

(WFIE) - A coat giveaway was held in downtown Evansville on Saturday. New Hope Missionary Baptist Church organized the event for the sixth consecutive year to help people that are homeless and out in the cold. Church leaders set up shop at the Metropolitan Evansville Transit System (METS) bus station for a couple of hours. They passed out masks, gloves and scarves, as well as offered prayers to those who wanted them. “When they got off the bus a while ago, they swarmed the table,” Adeline Chinn with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. “Nobody gets turned away. We love what we do. Every ministry donated two coats brand new. Our coats, we have gently used ones, everything’s been washed and sanitized, and we’re just out here to help people that’s still in need of.”
