Summer break is more than halfway over and the East Grand Forks School Board is considering what pandemic mitigation strategies will be necessary for the upcoming school year.
Superintendent Mike Kolness said he is hopeful all students will be fully in-person. However, the district has not yet received any guidance from the state about masking requirements, quarantine and isolation requirements or learning model requirements.
A CNC plasma cutting table, a keyboard lab and a photography class are all among the projects that will be fully or partially funded by the mini-grants from the East Grand Forks Education Foundation.

As COVID-19 cases continue to decrease in Polk County, the East Grand Forks School District reported a positive milestone: no cases of the virus have been reported in the school community in the last two weeks.
There have been 193 cases reported in the district among students and staff since the beginning of the pandemic, Superintendent Mike Kolness told the School Board at its regular meeting Monday, March 8, and 17 of those cases were reported between Dec. 22 and Feb. 25. The most recent 14-day average number of cases per capita in Polk County was 13.93.
