The family of a Ferris High School student filed a lawsuit after school resource officer Shawn Audie kneeled on the neck of their son after he was involved in an argument over shoes. The incident sparked a protest at the high school days after the incident. Students believed what happened was racially motivated.

The medical examiner wrote on its website Tuesday afternoon that there are 15 deaths wherein circumstances suggest they may be heat-related, although autopsy results are not yet available to confirm. The medical examiner s office released this information after multiple media outlets requested information regarding deaths that may be heat-related.
