The honeymoon between the Woodward administration and the City Council appears to be over. With the Washington state eviction moratorium slowly phasing out over the next few months and the City of Spokane tasked with the distribution of millions in rental assistance the Spokane City Council wanted to get a few basic questions answered during Thursday s council study session. What was the status of the city s rental assistance program? Who got the money, and how had they spent it? Who has been helped and how? It was the kind of basic request for an update from the city staff that council members have made a hundred times throughout the years. People encouraged to call for help in light of recent heat-related deaths

SPOKANE, Wash. People have been warned about the dangerous extreme heat Spokane been experiencing and now, it’s seeing the worst possible outcomes.
This afternoon, the Spokane County Medical Examiner said seven people have died of suspected heat-related illness in this heat wave.

Not much is known about them other than three were two men and woman. The woman was in her 60s, while the two men were in their 30s and 70s. Autopsies will be done to determine exactly what happened.
