PORT ST. LUCIE A Monday night fire at the more than 30-year-old family business St. Lucie Bakery may have knocked them down.
But not out.
“We re just going to rebuild and get back stronger than we are,” said Kelley Arciprete, who owns the business at 1780 S.E. Port St. Lucie Blvd. in the Morningside Shoppes plaza with her husband, whose family has a long history in baking.
St. Lucie County Fire District crews were called at 9:37 p.m. Monday, and smoke was coming from the roof when firefighters arrived, said Brenda Stokes, Fire District spokesperson. The fire was under control by 9:55 p.m. and there were no injuries, she said.

FORT PIERCE Three buildings behind the main Twin Vee PowerCats boat facility at Edwards Road and U.S. 1 burned Wednesday, but there were no reported injuries, officials said.
St. Lucie County Fire District crews at 12:28 p.m. went to the scene for a report of a brush fire, but on the way there were reports it spread to a building, said William French, division chief with the Fire District.
Black smoke was billowing in the area.
Edwards Road from U.S. 1 west to Oleander Boulevard was closed until shortly before 4 p.m. as at least 10 fire district vehicles jammed the scene.
The St. Lucie County Fire District and St. Lucie County Environmental Resources had the blaze 50% contained, but the acreage for the fire was not available, district spokeswoman Brenda Stokes said.

ST. LUCIE COUNTY Homes were evacuated and traffic closed on Dyer Road and Mediterranean Boulevard North, east of U.S. 1, for an early evening brush fire, the St. Lucie County Sheriff s Office said.
The evacuations were ordered just before 7 p.m. Sunday for residents in the original Spanish Lakes development. As of 8:15 p.m., Mediterranean, Dyer, Tilton Road and Prima Vista Boulevard were closed for eastbound traffic.
