PORT ST. LUCIE — A Monday night fire at the more than 30-year-old family business St. Lucie Bakery may have knocked them down.
But not out.
“We're just going to rebuild and get back stronger than we are,” said Kelley Arciprete, who owns the business at 1780 S.E. Port St. Lucie Blvd. in the Morningside Shoppes plaza with her husband, whose family has a long history in baking.
St. Lucie County Fire District crews were called at 9:37 p.m. Monday, and smoke was coming from the roof when firefighters arrived, said Brenda Stokes, Fire District spokesperson. The fire was under control by 9:55 p.m. and there were no injuries, she said.
