The new BMW M4 Competition Convertible has broken cover and it’s about to become the most expensive and breezy in the range.
It’s in competition with its usual foe, the Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet, and other open-top exotica like the Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet and Jaguar F-Type R.
After the M3 sedan and M4 coupé, the third body style to carry BMW’s polarising jet-style snout is powered the same as its siblings: a 375kW and 650Nm twin-turbo six-cylinder 3.0

NEW DELHI: BMW has globally taken the wraps off the 2021 M4 Competition Convertible with M xDrive. The launch is scheduled immediately after the start of production in July.
The dynamically stretched silhouette gets a soft-top concept. Panel bow soft top combines the practical benefits of a retractable hardtop with the elegant aesthetic of a fabric hood. Softtop is 40 per cent lighter than the predecessor’s roof, boot capacity is 80 litres larger. The soft top can be opened or closed in 18 seconds, even when moving, thanks to its electric drive mechanism.
BMW’s six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology used in M4 Competition has a high-revving character and maximum output increased by 60 hp over the predecessor model. Two turbochargers optimised direct injection technology, components developed on the back of racing expertise. The M performance characteristics and peak torque of 650 Nm.

This is the big one, the first drag race to put the all-new BMW M4 Competition up against its two main rivals. We re talking about the Audi RS5 Coupe and the Mercedes-AMG C63 S. We know those are both pretty old, but they re probably not going to be updated within the next two years (okay, maybe the Merc will arrive sooner). 6 photos
BMW has been toying with this technology for many years. Unless we re mistaken, the first 3.0-liter with turbos arrived in America for the 2007 model year and only made about 300 horsepower. But the 2021 M4 Competition boasts 503 hp (510 PS).

Car Magazine not only made a comparison between the 2021 BMW M4 Competition and a Porsche 911 Carrera but also devised a little drag race. So it s the cheapest version of the 911 going up against the most extreme BMW 4 Series Coupe? That s not really the way you re supposed to look at it.
