ARLINGTON â The Arlington Lions Club stayed busy during the pandemic amid the need for social distancing. The nonprofit group continued to hold community events, but with protocols adapted to the public health crisis.
Club members laid out trick-or-treat bags for kids at the Arlington Recreation Park last Halloween â along with bottles of hand sanitizers. They canceled last holiday seasonâs lighted vehicle and tractor parade in Arlington due to safety restrictions, but decided to come up with an alternative: inviting residents to decorate their vehicles with holiday lights and drive around the community.

1st Advantage Credit Union and the Kiwanis Club of Gloucester recently recognized its Gloucester Boys and Girls Club’s Youth of the Month award winners at a ceremony at the club. Pam Nichols of 1st Advantage, at left, and David James of the Kiwanis Club, right, presented trophies and goodie bags to, from left, Oliveah Marple (January), Albany Honaker (February), Ian Freeman (March) and Garrett McGuirk (April). The youngsters have kept positive attitudes, worked at improving their grades, and strived to improve their sportsmanship and teamwork, a release stated. 1st Advantage and the Kiwanis Club have held this recognition program for the past decade.

GALLATIN COUNTY â So many people are trying to figure out when their day to get the Covid-19 vaccine will come. Well, Friday was the day for 194 veterans in the Gallatin County area.
âI didnât even notice it. She â I didnât even feel it, of all things,â said World War II veteran Wayne Hill. Hill, a 97-year-old World War II veteran, was one of the 194 to receive their first dose of the vaccine and thereâs only one thing he can think of likewise to going through this pandemic. âI grew up during the Great Depression and that was tough sledding, and let me tell you that was hard knocks,â he said.
