DERRY JOURNAL Editorial : MICA homeowners deserve no less than 100%
The sheer scale of the demonstrations in Buncrana and Letterkenny at the weekend shows how the Mica Redress campaign has galvanised not just the thousands of families and individuals directly affected but the wider community in Donegal and beyond.

Over 10,000 people gathered along the shorefront of the Inishowen seaside town alone - more than three times the population of Buncrana - on Saturday to say loud and clear that nothing less than 100% redress from the government is acceptable.
The stories of families forced to live in, and pay mortgages and bills for, homes which are becoming, or already have become, unsafe and uninhabitable have been heartbreaking. Those who have spearheaded the campaign over the years and who secured the 90% Redress had a huge job on their hands and they did an outstanding job in getting the issue put before the national stage and in bringing it to this
February 23, 2021 When this storage facility was built, this was not a heavily populated area. [Play del Rey] is now a heavily populated area. Vice Mayor Daniel Lee underscored the main reason that the State of California was considering studying the possible closure of natural gas storage in Playa del Rey. Lee had requested that it be agendized, and reflected that Los Angeles City Councilmember Mike Bonin had already had an item before the City of Los Angeles, calling for not just study, but closure.

The agenda item for the Culver City Council meeting on Feb. 22, 2021 was a fairly simple resolution to support a study on closing down the natural gas storage facility. While it s not located in Culver City, the facility is close enough that Culver City residents would be directly effected in case of a crisis.
Ballona Wetlands are getting a makeover, but opponents don’t want too much ecological change MORE A stretch of the Ballona Wetlands in Los Angeles in 2010. Photo by Jim McDougall (CC BY 2.0).
A restoration project for the long-suffering Ballona Wetlands is moving forward after the California Department of Fish and Wildlife certified the final Environmental Impact Report for the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve last year.
Years of neglect, human impact, and development took a toll on the wetlands for years.
The project aims to remove invasive plants and leftover fill from the development of Marina Del Rey, re-establish a functioning floodplain, and create natural levees for flood protection against sea level rise.
SOCIAL-DISTANCING is non-existent in many West Fife supermarkets with too many people in the stores. That s the view of Press reader Eric Travers, who believes it is time to reintroduce one-way aisles for shopping and for people to be extra-vigilant. We asked our Facebook followers if they agreed with Mr Travers and got an overwhelming response with more than 200 comments on the subject. Jodie Watson said she agreed, adding: I can’t wear a mask but try and stay a good distance from everyone out of respect but the mask-wearers certainly don’t give the same respect back! Patricia Mcpherson said: Today in Tesco s,my daughter had to say to a man at a checkout if he could stand back as he stood right next to her. His reply: I ve had the jab, I m negative . People are still not understanding.
The third season of
Knight Rider brings back Patricia McPherson as Bonnie, who was replaced in season 2 by Rebecca Holden, who played scientist and KITT mechanic/handler April. We’re never given an explanation as to why April left the Foundation for Law and Government, but we do find out, in the two-part season opener
Knight of the Drones, that Bonnie originally left FLAG to do research and continue her education (she was also apparently tired of the endless crime fighting that FLAG engaged in). I definitely prefer Bonnie over April (Rebecca Holden is a fine actress and all, but she never really fit in with Hasselhoff’s Michael Knight and Edward Mulhare’s Devon Miles and her presence changed the tone of the show in the second season), but I would have liked some sort of explanation as to why April was suddenly gone. I mean, who took care of KITT between April leaving and Bonnie returning? Was it a series of faceless/nameless FLAG technicians?
