Midcoast Conservancy is delighted to welcome Tim Trumbauer to its staff as senior watershed manager. Trumbauer will be responsible for protecting and improving water resources for human and ecological benefit within the Midcoast Conservancy service area. Trumbauer and other water team staff will work with community leaders on developing a watershed management plan in Damariscotta Lake and implement new opportunities for protecting water quality in the Medomak River watershed. He will work with municipalities and landowners within the shoreland zone to help mitigate harmful erosion, among other projects.

NCDC, NCC announce short code for verified information on COVID-19

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in collaboration with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) have activated a short code – “6232” for verified information.
NCDC said the number was introduced for the public to contact their Connect Centre and access verified information on COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.
Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, the Director-General of NCDC, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja, that the short code was toll-free and easy-to-remember
According to him, this means that all calls to NCDC through “6232” are free of charge, adding that call lines were expanded to receive multiple calls simultaneously.
Karsonya (Kaye) Whitehead wanted a place where people could go to discuss race, peace and social justice, so in October 2020, she launched the Karson Institute at the Loyola University of Maryland in Baltimore.
Whitehead, an associate professor of communications and African American Studies at Loyola, was inspired to launch the institute following the death of Trayvon Martin in 2012.
Prior to his death, she thought if you worked hard enough, went to the right schools and lived in the right neighborhood, you could somehow escape racial profiling.
“You can’t outrun what’s embedded in society,” she realized after Martin’s death. “You can’t outrun systemic racism. You have to confront it and dismantle it.”
