Domestic shooting inside east Birmingham home leaves 1 man dead Updated 10:48 PM; A shooting in east Birmingham Sunday evening left one man dead in what is believed to be a domestic dispute. The shooting happened shortly before 6 p.m. at Autumn Chase on Chase Lane, said Officer Truman Fitzgerald. Officers dispatched to the scene on a report of a person shot found the male victim unresponsive in the living room. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced him dead on the scene. Fitzgerald said the preliminary investigation suggests that a verbal argument took place prior to the victim being shot. A suspect remained on the scene and was taken into custody. The suspect was taken to Birmingham Police Headquarters for questioning, but no charges have yet been announced.

UPDATE: Birmingham police have identified the victim as 48-year-old Jermaine Demarico Johnson, of Birmingham. EARLIER: BIRMINGHAM One man is dead following what police believe was a domestic-related shooting in Birmingham on Sunday evening.  According to a release from the Birmingham Police Department, East Precinct officers were dispatched to 3039 Chase Lane shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday on a report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and observed a male victim lying unresponsive in the living room of the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel later pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Police say his identity will be released upon notification to the next of kin.

Authorities ID two men killed in separate domestic incidents Sunday in Birmingham area Updated 9:45 AM; Authorities have released the names of two men killed Sunday in separate domestic incidents, one in unincorporated Jefferson County and the other in Birmingham. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified the victims as Cedric Wayne Spencer, 61, and Jermaine Demarico Johnson, 48. Deputies responded about 8:15 a.m. Sunday to a business on Pawnee Village Road, said Sgt. Joni Money. When they arrived, they found Spencer unresponsive. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Authorities viewed video footage and saw the two were at the location when some type of disagreement between them took place the night before – about 11:15 p.m.. The female got into the victim’s car and drove away, dragging the male a short distance. The male fell to the ground.
